Raymond Brill, O.D.

About Dr. Brill
Raymond Brill, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1978 along with his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science. His undergraduate studies were completed at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, in 1974. While attending the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Brill served as President of the Collegiate Society of the Illinois Optometric Association.

Dr. Brill is active in numerous professional organizations including the American Optometric Association, the American Board of Optometry, and the Kansas Optometric Association. He has also earned many honors and awards, such as Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry in 2011, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) in 1981.

Dr. Brill’s goal is to provide excellent, professional care in a warm and friendly atmosphere. He believes that a strong doctor-patient relationship is key in providing each patient with the best visual care possible. He specializes in being able to solve a wide range of visual conditions – from treating simple red eye problems with the correct medication to fitting a complicated specialty contact lens for a distorted eye.

Dr. Breck Dakin

About Dr. Dakin

Breck Dakin, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Pikeville’s Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO) in 2021 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kansas State University. While attending KYCO, Dr. Dakin was the recipient of numerous awards including the Kentucky Optometric Association Advocacy Award, the KYCO Student Leadership Award, and the KYCO Excellence in Research Award. He was also just elected the Secretary of the Optometric Society of Greater Kansas City (OSGKC) for 2022.

Dr. Dakin’s strong passion for helping people and improving their quality of life lead him to pursue a career in optometry. He believes optometry is a very social profession, and he especially enjoys building strong relationships with his patients and their families which allows him to provide the best visual care possible. Dr. Dakin also feels that optometry is a field that is constantly evolving and challenges him to keep learning new methods of treating and managing ocular disease.

In his spare time away from the office, Dr. Dakin enjoys hiking, attending concerts, and spending time with his two Dalmatians.

Dr. Kristin Pierce

About Dr. Pierce
Originally from Hoisington, Kansas, Dr. Pierce graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. She then attended the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, TN. While at SCO, Dr. Pierce completed various externships, gaining valuable clinical experience in primary care optometry, contact lens fitting, and ocular disease. Dr. Pierce graduated from SCO in 2008 with highest honors and was valedictorian of her class.

Dr. Pierce is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. She is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the SCO Outstanding Clinician Award and the VSP Award of Excellence. She is currently licensed to practice in both Kansas and Missouri. Dr. Pierce has been an optometrist with Overland Park Eye Center since 2008. She strives to provide thorough, comprehensive eye care in a family-friendly setting. She values a strong doctor-patient relationship and places emphasis on the importance of patient education.

In her free time, Dr. Pierce enjoys spending time with her husband, Dustin, and their two children, Dylan and Landon. She can often be found volunteering at her sons’ school or cheering on her kids at their sporting events.

Dr. Joe Schwerdtfeger

About Dr. Schwerdtfeger
Dr. Schwerdtfeger (Dr. Joe to our patients) is a life long native of Johnson County. He opened his practice at Overland Park Eye Center in 1994 after many years of practicing in Kansas City, MO. He attended the University of Kansas for undergraduate work. In 1986, he graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. He also maintains several certificates in LASIK consultation, contact fitting, dry eye syndrome and other medical eye care. He is a current member of both the Kansas Optometric Association (KOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA).

In his free time, Dr. Joe enjoys spending time with his wife Susan and their three children; Tyler, Scott, and Megan; as well as their dog Maddy. Most Saturdays you can find him coaching one of his kid’s teams or on a soccer field or basketball game cheering them on. He is also an avid sports fan and enjoys catching games with friends. In addition, Dr. Joe enjoys traveling and skiing with his family and friends.

Dr. Neel Gupta

Dr. Gupta grew up in Michigan and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. She moved to Chicago to complete her Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in 2004. Dr. Gupta’s training focused on specialization in pediatrics, ocular disease, low vision, and contact lenses.

Dr. Gupta currently resides in Overland Park, KS with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys spending her time outdoors with her family and traveling.

Dr. Kyle Marr

Dr. Kyle Marr, O.D. grew up in Olathe, KS before moving to Chicago, IL to complete his Doctorate in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Marr’s clinical training focused on primary eye care, pediatrics, ocular disease, and contact lenses. He obtained his training from Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, Loyola University Medical Center, and Children’s Mercy Hospital.

He resides in Olathe, KS with his wife, son, daughter, and dog. Dr. Marr enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, fishing, grilling, golfing, and supporting Kansas City’s sports teams.

He is a member of the American Optometric Association and Kansas Optometric Association.

Dr. Neal Troyer

Dr. Troyer, a native of Altamont, Kansas, graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Life Sciences. In 2003, he attended Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL where he graduated with a Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2007. During his externship rotations, Dr. Troyer specialized in pediatrics, ocular disease, primary care and low vision. He is an active member of the Kansas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Heart of America Contact Lens Society and the Olathe Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Troyer currently resides in Olathe, Kansas with his wife, Marci, his two daughters, Sloane and Demi, and son Teague.

Dr. Justin Weigel

Dr. Weigel, a native of Kansas, received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas where he graduated with honors. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Dr. Weigel’s training included rotations in advanced care, low vision, pediatrics, contact lenses and primary care. He currently is a partner with Dr. Troyer at Insight Vision Center, a practice that includes diagnosis, management and treatment of ocular disease and refractive conditions of the eye.

Dr. Weigel currently resides in Olathe with his wife, Jen, who is a Neonatal ICU nurse at Children’s Mercy, 2 sons, Camden and Beckett, and daughter Brielle. Dr. Weigel enjoys taking time to run with his 2 dogs and kids and is an avid sports fan that closely follows the Jayhawks during football and especially basketball season.
